In January we got a lovely new set of 'rain gear' thanks to our Board of Governors.
In February we had a visit from a local aquarium with their touch tank. We played outside while taking turns to enjoy seeing all the creatures they had with them.
In March we had an Egg Hunt in the forest - loads of fun & some chocolate eggs too!
In April it was unseasonably warm & sunny & the children had fun learning to whittle with carrots & peelers.
In May we went to the 'big forest' as the children christened it at An Creagán & the children had a blast exploring this much bigger & more challenging space.
In June, we celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee by making crowns & having a BBQ in the playground, we once again cooked popcorn & marshmallows!
July & August I was on summer break so nothing outdoorish was happening in school.
In September we got the chance to introduce a whole new class of children & their parents to our outdoor play approach.
The children embraced the mud patch with gusto!
In October the class got to grips with the bottle babies & included them in their everyday play scenarios with no trouble at all.
November saw us beginning our monthly visits to Peatlands Park where a whole new class got the chance to climb, run & explore in this wonderful setting.
In December we continued to enjoy going outside everyday, no matter what the weather & decorated the tree in the playground for Christmas.
My favourite post from the last outdoor play came from The Usual Mayhem, I loved the idea of going to the beach in Winter & allowing children to see the beach in a whole new context.
